PRESS  RELEASE                                                             November 19, 2003
 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"NEW, DIVERSE ANIMAL PROTECTION COALITION  VOWS TO SEE CHANGES -  RESULTS"

Las  Vegas, Nevada
FACT:  Since 1983, Americans have spent $1 billion  annually  on community  animal control efforts.
FACT: Since 1983 Americans have also donated  approximately $1 billion annually to their favorite animal protection organizations.
FACT:  The thousands of non profit organizations dedicated  to this cause  and the countless millions of man hours put into this effort  in addition to the  incredible figures of $40 billion since  1983 have not lead to one  single  solution.   We still see dog pounds in every community across  the nation scrambling  to make room for the increasing numbers of dogs and cats.
"We put a man on the moon; we  can cure a  new disease in record  time; we even win wars in 100 days or less.  Americans  have the  sophisticated technology and successful marketing prowess to make  miraculous changes in the human race,  yet, we  can’t seem to successfully convey the reality of our  behavior and the subsequent  consequences when it comes to how  we view and care for our companion animals", says Randy Warner director of the America C.A.R.E.S Coalition
www.21stcenturycares.org/coalition.htm
Dr. Jeanette Shutay, Ph.D. of Lockport, Illinois  clarifies,  "We are certainly not radicals, but an emerging group of educated  and  dedicated minds, convinced these goals are attainable  with proper  information to the appropriate people.  Like our  minority and religious leaders,  our large animal welfare organizations  need their victims. Absent crimes and  imaginary situations against  their people and teachings, these organizations  disappear -- this  means jobs."  She  confirms. Dr. Shutay, the author of 'The Importance of Humane Education" www.21stcenturycares.org/importance.htm continues. "We can't let this get in the way of saving lives. Creative thinking can solve both problems!"
"It's time we  begin to think outside the box!  The larger organizations always want to point to their  websites that have educational resources  'available'' or  'offered''  to the  schools. But, if their materials had been successful at any  level, we could all see  improvements.  But, we can't!" says Warner.  "This coalition sees the failure of society's willingness to fully value and protect our  companion animals is  its most extreme example of utter and abject failure.  We are all in agreement that humane education will be the largest and most successful effort yet launched in this effort." concludes Warner, founder also of 21st Century Animal Education www.21stcenturycares.org/    and travels around the nation providing humane education presentations to the schools and youth groups.
"We are confident that the  human race has  the potential as well as the desire to see an end  to these tragedies.  We stand  firm and proud in our claims to  accomplish this," states Dr. Elizabeth Sescilla,  an active participant  and president of NCARES, a North Carolina Humane Education  organization.  www.NCaresonline.org/
