*Points to consider when looking at a new pet

*A wonderful story about Ash and Cinder

Puppies are adorable and they are trainable. Adult dogs are just as wonderful and trainable! But, this year alone, Americans will turn nearly 6 million pups in to shelters nationwide. Most of them relinquished because the humans admit they couldn’t train them. All dogs are cute for 6 mo, but then they grow large, ornery, energetic and destructive in their chewing and digging stages. The worst way to handle this is by locking them outside in disgust and anger. Our feelings of inadequacy causes the pet to suffer. Seldom to we admit that we just didn’t know how to train this dog.
Below is a story that rescuers hear on a DAILY BASIS!!! I
One thing to know is that “second hand” dogs know they have a second chance from a dedicated, responsible family. All the love and attention you give them will be returned to you tenfold. Probably even moreso.
Fact: 80% of the dogs relinquished to shelters around the nation are done so because, by admission of the guardian, they were simply unable to provide the necessary training these dogs needed. This occurs due to lack of time and effort on the part of the human, but almost never the behavior of the dog.

There is nothing cuter than a puppy. But they are only puppies for six months before they grow into larger dogs. Are you really prepared to take the time and effort required to do all the loving and training for the little bouncing puppy with endless energy? It takes a LOT of time, tremendous patience and Read on. The following happens every day and in almost every community across this country.Any size, color, breed or mix your heart desires is at your local shelter with just days to live. If it is not there today, it will be tomorrow!

Buy A Puppy Or Adopt a Homeless Adult?

PUPPY
The thoughts of coming home to the adorable little puppy is heart warming. But, wasn’t work extremely long today because you didn’t sleep last night while the puppy whined and yapped all night? Isn’t the yard in shambles because he’s dug it all up? How warm are you feet in half eaten slippers? Your husband’s $200 work shoes don’t look good with puppy teeth prints. The remote control is useless in a thousand pieces. And, yes, you son can honestly tell his teacher that his new puppy ate his homework! Oh, and he’s sure not to be totally housebroken for several months.

Of course the fun isn’t over yet. Now, that the little puppy is FULLY GROWN, you still have to pay $100 for spay and neutering, $50 for vaccinations, $25 for license fees and hope that your discipline has worked with the potty training, biting, chewing of shoes, and hopefully the neighbors will stop calling to complain about his constant barking.
No doubt they’re cute. But is this worth all this?             RESCUE DOG FROM THE SHELTER
Every dog on this page came from death row and ultimately fit into their new home within days! There are dogs of all ages, colors and sizes at the local shelter that need homes or they will be killed. They are grown, so there are no surprises as to how big they will become. You’ll see the length of hair and their basic personality. They are already spayed or neutered, have current vaccinations, know basic commands, are housebroken, and walk nicely on a leash. You don’t have to do much except give it love and a good home. All this for $50 or so at your local shelter. It will take a few days to adjust, but isn’t a few days much easier than a few months?

Here’s a brief story about what rescuers hear on a daily basis.
Ash And Cinder:
Ash and Cinder are a pair of Dalmatians from a Las Vegas shelter. They have been successfully re-homed in the Denver area with a family, which has three small children.

Dear Beth,
I have to tell you that Cinder and Ash are great! We couldn’t be happier. Cinder has adopted Genesis {our baby} as hers. When I am in the living
room and she hears Genesis wake up she goes to her bedroom door and touches the  knob with her nose till I open it. When I open the door she goes right to the
crib and waits for me to pick her up and then she licks her foot. It is so  sweet. They are so careful around all the children.
Both are HUGE lovers and love to snuggle up with us. Ash was laying on the floor tonight while the older kids were watching TV. Tabitha {our 6yr old }came and laid on the floor with Ash and laid her head on his shoulder. He curled his neck around and laid his head on her neck. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have these wonderful dogs in our home and our hearts. We are very grateful.
Sincerely,
Gretchen
