An insider's view of the American version of the animal protection
movement and all the noble and hard working volunteers who devote
their entire beings and souls to the simple, yet unachievable goals
of actually seeing resolve due to egos, politics and greed.
Although containing much criticism within these pages, it is by no
means meant to do harm nor degrade the idealism of providing the
companion animals we cherish, with the safe and healthy lives they
are intended to enjoy, but to make a solid attempt to lure those
hard working volunteers back into the much larger 'single' group
that we should be in order to have the voices required to share the
messages, enforce the laws and educate the public in an organized
and unified manner to which the public will most likely respond to.
That would give us the such power that we would be unlikely to
really use it. After all, it's been proven over time that conscience
is much more powerful than consequence. If the general public
thought we were a force to be reckoned with, they would not be as
likely to break the laws but refrain from dealing with our numbers.
Realizing the billions of dollars this nation spends annually
through taxes and donations, we can not possibly be proud of the
flaring omission of successes we've achieved. Knowing that there are
3,000+ animal protection organizations just in America who annually
log over one million volunteer man hours and that everyone's life
has been positively affected by a dog or cat, I'm really surprised
that nobody has yet to stand up and ask these very questions.
This nation's major animal organizations have good intentions, but
are drowning in a quagmire of competition between themselves for the
eve popular publicity in major newspapers as they crave the almighty
dollar more than they crave success. Maybe the executives equate the
two. Of course it takes a large sum of money to try and bring
resolve to so many issues, but for the past 25 years, it's clear
that the $20,000,000,000 ($20 Billion) we've thrown their way has
not brought a conclusion to the main problems of pet overpopulation,
animal abuse and neglect.
This is a good faith effort to make everyone aware of the growing
financial powerhouses these national animal groups are becoming.
This means that either we begin to police ourselves or sit back
and allow the government to step in and begin their own policing of
our efforts.
The reasons for the abundance of shortcomings and lack of 'real'
achievements are many. In this book I show the ten main reasons why
we will not likely ever solve these problems UNLESS everyone will
stop thinking that THEY have the only solution and to begin working
together in many ways. I discuss a few of the situations I've
experienced in my 22 years of doing rescue work as well as the ten
years I've provided humane education to over 5,000 young people in
11 states.
We need to begin a process that will allow change to surface. We
need to demand accountability from our local and federal governments
as well as the major animal groups for the billions of dollars we
pay in taxes and donate to them. We need to recognize, that as a
group, we have massive powers to change laws and simply provide the
education that is necessary to enforce these ideas. Seeing the need
for change in this movement, at some point in time, we must all make
the decision to stop exhausting all our funds and energies that
place their focus solely on cleaning up yesterday's messes and to
decide that we want to see solutions that will ultimately protect
the millions and billions of animals yet to be born as well. Humane
education is the best.... no, THE ONLY MEANS we have to accomplish
this goal!!!
We must not lose perspective and shall choose those campaigns that
will save more animals in the long run. the animals that exist today
are a very tiny percentage of the animals who will be killed and
tortured in the coming years, decades and millennia. Paying
excessive attention to those who suffer today is actually condemning
millions more to suffer the same fate. With the millions and
billions of dollars spent to clean up the existing troubles, we've
given nothing in time and effort to our tomorrows and all the
animals that will be born in the future.
We must all, in the near future, realize that if for some reason,
everyone involved with animal rescue were to throw in the towel
tomorrow, the following day would be total chaos for the animals as
we have just not given that any thought or respect at all.
Nobody in the world would like to see this effort succeed than I.
