![]() Welcome to my WebsiteHi! I'm Sam McCreesh, Leicestershire & Rutland's Youth Local Contact for leading animal rights campaigning groups Animal Aid, PeTA & Viva! and for The Vegetarian Society - the UK's oldest society of it's kind. I'm a member of the PeTA2 Street Team, Animal Aid, Viva!, The Vegetarian Society, Dr.Hadwen Trust & The RSPCA.I also sponsor a dog called Sam at Dogs Trust Snetterton, and adopt a shire horse called William at Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk, a pony called Polly at Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Norfolk, and an ex-racehorse called Gold at Bransby Home of Rest for Horses in Lincolnshire!!My role as a local contact is to respond to any queries from members of the public about animal rights and vegetarianism, and to promote animal rights campaigns and the benefits of a vegetarian diet, in a number of ways such as information stalls and displays, writing letters to local newspapers, and liaising with the local press to produce features on important events such as National Vegetarian Week & Horse Racing Awareness Week. As a youth contact, I also bring the message into my own school, making sure uptodate education resources are available & developing interesting displays. I also do some fundraising & collect signatures for petitions!I am part of a national network of volunteers who do similar things to me. Some run groups which campaign and meet socially. All our work is unpaid and done in our own time. Please browse the website and feel free to get in touch if you'd like to! And if you have a spare moment, I'd really appreciate it if you would let me know what you think of this new site - by emailing me for details. Thanks for visiting & bye for now!P.S. The picture above is of me & my adopted shire-horse William (wearing the red headcollar), along with his friend Striker (the palomino pony in the background) at Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk, which we visited in Summer 2004, and since my visit I have raised £25 for their Land appeal. Hillside campaigns against factory farming and carries out investigations into factory farms, of which many supply major UK supermarket chains such as TESCO. Their sanctuary of rescued animals is getting even bigger, as they complete the second part of their land extension. To make a donation towards the cost of this in their Land Appeal, or to find out more about their work visit their website http://www.ilph.org/ or email contact@hillside.org.uk to request a free quarterly newsletter by post, regular email updates and a free investigations video. |
